Now think that half of them are stupider than that."

My daughter and son-in-law bought me this beautiful flowering plant for Christmas. I thought it was a cactus, but upon further study, it's actually found in the rain forests of Brazil and it grows on trees (much like mistletoe). All it needs to be happy is to make sure it has water between it's layer's of leaves. When it's at it's largest size it can hold a gallon of water between them! When I first got it, it was just pink. Then suddenly it started getting these blue and purple buds. I found out that as the outer leaves of the flowers grow, they actually turn into the green leaves/limbs of the plant and the blue/purple buds turn the dark pink you see and then eventually become new "petals" of the flower and then leaves/limbs of the plant- that is how this grows. It's fascinating and I am totally infatuated with it! <3

Isn't it hard sometimes or should I say many times to put down the camera. Sometimes I can't. It's an addiction. Not too much of a bad one. ODC~ 1/26/12 - stop

The beautiful entrance of the Morarka Haveli at Nawalgarh. The detail of carving and painting is incredible! This picture is an HDR shot, combined from three different images, in an attempt to capture as much detail as possible on this amazingly decorated entrance! The Morarka Haveli is now turned into a museum. I applaud the efforts of the Morarka family in preserving and restoring their family property and keeping the Indian heritage alive! The Morarka Haveli is being restored keeping with the old traditions and techniques. www.shekhawatifestival.com/morarka_haveli_museum.html Nawalgarh boasts some of the finest painted havelis in the Shekhawati region. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nawalgarh,_Rajasthan These pictures are a part of our journey through Northern Rajasthan and Agra. The outer walls of the Podar Haveli are full of frescoes and murals. Not a single empty space can be seen! The motifs on the Podar Haveli are quite different than the ones commonly found. The Dr. Ramnath A Podar Haveli Museum is by far the finest haveli in the entire Shekhawati region that we toured. The Podar family has taken a lot of efforts in preserving their ancestral home and subsequent generations having worked extensively on restoring the frescoes and turning it into a beautiful well maintained museum for everyone to enjoy. www.podarhavelimuseum.org/default_1.htm These pictures are a part of our journey through Northern Rajasthan and Agra. A beautiful doorway lead to the inner courtyard. The room above the doorway was usually the sitting room of the owner of the house, who could easily keep an eye on visitors entering and leaving the haveli.
